Know what? Right now I am in Ubuntu 8.04. Huray! ;))

The upgrade was pretty smooth without any problems except Compiz. But the issue had been settled. The problem was occurred because,

It seems AMD’s scripts to build an Ubuntu package for 7.10 include a diversion for /etc/xdg/compiz/compiz-manager so they can add fglrx to the list of supported drivers. The problem is that they don’t remove this diversion on upgrade/uninstall so when you upgrade to Ubuntu 8.04 the /etc/xdg/compiz/compiz-manager file will no longer exist and compiz will not start.

So what I did to fix the problem was, enter

Ubuntu 8.04 Hahaha. I am so excited because right now I am upgrading my Ubuntu to the latest Ubuntu version 8.04 codename Hardy Heron. If you want to upgrade your Ubuntu from 7.10 or from other earlier version to 8.04, just follow the instructions here.

So far, the download process is running smooth and fast. This is my first time upgrading my Ubuntu. Maybe that is why I am so excited. But I have to wait for 5 hours (maybe more) for the download process to finish because my connection is unstable and I hope it will not disconnect during the upgrading process.

I can’t wait to test the new features in Ubuntu 8.04. As I mentioned earlier, there are many upgrades and new features in this new version. You can learn more about the new features here. Hurm…I wonder what is the first thing that I want to test after the upgrade is finished? *wink*

So guys, the time has come. This is the time for the upgrade. Download it now or request the free CD. 😀

I am not sure why they put Firefox 3 Beta as the default browser. In my opinion it is better to just stick with the latest stable Firefox version which is Firefox 2. At least people will not facing into troubles if suddenly Firefox 3 Beta not functioning in their system.

Ubuntu is a well known Linux operating system that everyone want to have. because of it is free but because of the stability, light, and the most important is, Ubuntu does not need any extra security software to protect you from viruses or bad hackers. The architecture of itself has made it safe from the attacks.

If you are the Ubuntu user and at the same time use Windows XP on your PC, now you can use the Human theme (the default Ubuntu theme) in Windows XP. I have two operating systems in my PC, Ubuntu and Windows XP. I really like to use the Human theme in my Windows XP and found the way on how to make your Windows XP looks like Ubuntu. Ubuntu Newbie Malaysia is a website or I can say like a blog which focus on Ubuntu (remember, the pronunciation is ooo-boo-too). Everything is written in Malay because I target Malaysian audience.
