Edit: Celcom Broadband 3.6Mbps package is now RM98 monthly. Really cheap, isn’t it?
I just subscribed Celcom broadband last week and that is why you can see that my site has regain it’s health. Because my hostel does not get wireless coverage so I decided to subscribe Celcom broadband so I can get connected to the Internet anywhere I want as long as the area got the network coverage.
Celcom broadband uses 3G network to connect to the Internet. If the area does not have 3G network, don’t worry, you are still be able to connect to the Internet but the speed is slower than you are in the 3G area.
If you subscribe the RM68 package, you will get limited speed which is 384kbps only. But if you have more money to spend for each month, you can subscribe the RM120 package and you will get up to 3.6Mbps speed. But take note, you only will get the speed if you are in the HSDPA area. I’m not sure which area got the HSDPA network because Celcom does not put the covered map on their website. So I don’t have any clue whether my place is in the HSDPA area.
HSDPA is stands for High-Speed Downlink Packet Access which is it is a new protocol in mobile telecommunication. In simple word, we can call it as 3.5G. I don’t subscribe the RM120 package because it is expensive and I don’t think that I can afford it because I am still a student though. To pay RM120 just to use Internet is not reasonable. It is better if I use thr RM120 to eat KFC or go watching movies. :p
But there is another reason why I didn’t subscribe the RM120 package. If I subscribe the RM120 package and I live outside from the HSDPA area, it will be useless because I will only get around 700kbps. Correct me if I’m wrong.
Just want to let you know, Celcom broadband packages does not come with device/modem. If you subscribe Maxis broadband, you will get free modem even though you subscribe their RM68 package. But I heard many complaints from their customers saying that their service is not good and so do their customer support.
You can buy the device from Celcom but is expensive. I thought the modem is around RM200-RM400 but I was wrong. You can get a datacard with only RM399 but the datacard is only can be used on laptop. Unfortunately, I’m using desktop so I need to buy the USB modem which I need to pay about RM1100. RM1100 is not easy to get for a student. But thanks to my ex-boss, En Mizan the manager of Mercumaya, a web hosting provider company because he agreed to sell me the USB modem to me with installment and with cheaper price. :d
The USB modem can support up to 3.6Mbps but because I subscribe the RM68 package, so I only can get 384kbps, maximum speed. But sometimes the speed is even slower compare with dial-up. Sometimes I get around 50kbps to 80kbps which is a little bit faster than dial-up but I paid RM68 monthly so I must get the top speed as possible. I hope Celcom can improve their services so all Malaysian will use their services.
If you don’t know which package that you want to subscribe, it is better to consult with their customer service. But if you want to go for Maxis, think twice. 😉 Because I still recommended you to choose Celcom broadband.
ps: If you have 3G handphone, you can use it as modem and connect it to your PC. From that, you can surf the Internet but the speed is slower, around 170kbps.
la dey?? too many people said they can’t afford to buy 3g equipment. the cheapest way is like this:
1. buy 3g card, can support speed up to 3.6mbps but at price rm 300 only.
2. it fix well with laptop as it aleady got card slot, but for pc u can buy that card slot separately, because that card slot is not in high demand product, many pc shop sell it very cheap, around rm80 is the standard price. Go negotiate.
3. live life to the cheapest!!!!!!

Hey, i have a problem with my celcom 3G.
I’m using emule to downoad stuff. The problem is, it always shows it cannot connect to server. I can’t search for stuff i want because it’s not connected to server but those that are already halfway downloading (search using previous streamyx connection), they continue to download..just that i cannot get into the emule server to search for new stuff..
When i’m outside my house it’s showing >>
server appears to be full…
when i’m at home >>>
Connected .. Client ID 135476413
Disconnected from server ( this happens like 2 seconds after being connected )
I have tried for a few days, until now, not even a single successful connection.
wat’s the problem here actually??
aku rasakan bagus kasih stoplah broadband nie,kalau kita connect pun lembab betul,bila tanya customer service macam2 alasan yang dicakap.buat promosi besar2an tapi hak pengguna dipandang remeh temeh jak
finally, celcom dah siap proses implement teknologi mobile softswitch.. yang mengambil masa almost one month, teknologi yang intergrate platform 2G dgn 3G.. dan jgk untuk memberikan perkhidmatan suara dan data yang lebih berkualiti dan stabil..
tp mmg betul2 dpt rasa perbezaannya, sejak semalam… connection internet full speed 3G (300kbps above, continuosly non-stop), takde prob lg.. thanks so much celcom!!!

So far My Huawei E220 is runing alright. I buy celcom 3G package rm68 just not understand why cant send “SMS” ? My friend is using Maxic same as Huawei as well, he can send SMS ..Simple say is I use Celcom he use Maxic, this is only the different. I ask operator Celcom, on that time she very busy…she answer me: memang tak boleh send SMS…then no reason…I ask can I upgrade this package so that can send SMS & speed up as well? She say again: Tak perlu, Celcom now was improve the system line…soon will auto speed up! Until now I still “tak faham” is because package rm68 celcom had no this funtion for send SMS or she lazy answer me or another reason is my sim card problem?
Because the sim card that Celcom gave to you is just for data only. Meaning that it only can be used for internet. Not sending SMS.

Rasa nya grade A speed dia 7.2mbps grade B 3.6mbps… kot sebab baru ni aku beli RM410 7.2mbps speed dier E220 jugak. Aku nak kongsi la siang tadi aku baru jer beli package RM68 celcom utk normal surf ok la tapi nak main online games sure pakai yang RM98 ok aku dah try area jb jhr jaya.

erm disini saya pengguna broadband basic RM68. masalah yang saya hadapi sekarang adalah, apabila saya nak sign in yahoo messenger, sering gagal untuk sign in dan kelluar ralat ” a problem in signing yahoo messenger”. tetapi apabila saya menggunakan line streamyx, senang senang sa nak sign in dalam yahoo messeger. jadi saya nak tahu apa masalah sebenarnya ni?

I guna broadband ok je , siap main game canggih lagi, tapi kena download flash la, I pakai modem blue cube n pakej 68permonth. modem beli masa register dgn harga rm500. Kalau x reganye 700.

Sa dah gunakan cel.broadband yg d byar stiap blan Rm 129.tp speed msh 53.6kbps sedangkan member sbelah sa mlanggan pac.cel. Rm 68 dpt speed shingga 128.kbps.apa dah jadi ngan cel.broadband sa ni..sa tak bpuas hati dgn pkhidmatan ini.bantu saya.

I am a registered celcom postpaid customer, and recently i just subscribe for the celcom unlmited 68 , im living n ipoh , using my sony ericsson as the modem ,and im satisfied with d’ services, my friend in kl usng the same service and the same hp to act as the modem so no need to buy the data card, i think it is cheaper.. *_*
But the problem is you might need to recharge your battery everytime when you surf the Internet.
one more thing to add, certain hp can automaticaly act as the modem, and i dunno why but the speed is faster rather when im using the installation cd which come with the phone, and using the icon or the connection wizard which comes with the cd.
my friend gave me her celcom broadband(modem and the sim card) but the problem is the sim card is no longer active.
i have with me a prepaid celcom, can i use this in the modem i have?
Sure. As long as the modem is not block to only accept her SIM card.

bole cerita pasal digi ke tak nih..? saya guna bluetooth hp jadi modem speednya 1.0 gbps. tapi bila guna huawei e220 speednya cuma 236.8 kbps. memang macam tu ke..? tak bley kasi laju sama macam bluetooth ho ke??

Atan – 3G ni guna frekuensi 2.1GHz. bluetooth pulak guna frekuensi yang lagi tinggi. so memang tak boleh la nak bagi 3G tu laju macam bluetooth. 3G punya coverage boleh sampai beratus2 meter. tapi bluetooth cuma takat 10-15 meter je. sebab tu modem wifi pun tak boleh guna sebagai modem 3G. frekuensi diorang lain2. frekuensi wifi and bluetooth ni unlicensed, manakala frekuensi 3G ni kena ade lesen kalau nak roll out. sebab tu digi tak boleh nak offer 3G. takde lesen lagi.

phillips – yang tu namenye pro rate. kdg2 kita register at the time yang tak sama ngan Celcom’s billing date. so additional days yang kita guna diorang charge under pro rate la. lagi satu stamp duty. bayaran extra nih hanya utk bil pertama je. bil kedua nanti caj mcm biasa rm68.

celcom have limit its user 5gb per month,after u exceeded ur usage,no matter ur package is rm98 or rm120(tats wat my package is),it will be ‘up to 384kbs’ for u…and tats why i will change to other network,celcom,u sucks!!!!!….
