June 2008 Monthly Highlights:

More interesting post in my Archive page.

Last month, it was the first time my website reached to its bandwidth limit. Then, I quickly asked Sam from ServerFreak Hosting for help. Only he can help me because my hosting is sponsored by ServerFreak so only he can increase my bandwidth quota. Thanks to him, he had increased my hosting bandwidth to 60GB. So my website runs back to normal.

But today, early in the morning, when I press Enter after typing my website URL, BUMP!, I got the same error message directly to my face.

I use my PC mostly for blogging, internet surfing and sometimes pay bills online. I also store sensitive information such as my education grades (this can be sensitive information too :p ) in my PC. Everything that I do and files that I saved are recorded and stored into the hard disk. Even though I have deleted the files and removed “the traces”, they are still exist in my hard disk.

Maybe you have heard about this. When we delete a file, the file that we have deleted is not removed from our hard disk entirely. It is still exist in our hard disk but the operating system doesn’t know where to find it because the first byte of the file has been changed to E5 (a HEX value). The data is still remains on the hard disk unchanged unless when a new data is written on it.

eraser-01

If you have sensitive documents in your PC or you don’t want somebody else found what you did with the PC, you can wipe your traces by using Eraser. Eraser is a powerful tool that can help you to cover up your tracks. This freeware tool will overwrite the file up to 35 times when using Guttmann technique.

There will be a time when we feel very bored when doing the same thing everyday. Sometimes we need something new or maybe some games that we can play to overcome the boring routine works.

While I was reading feeds in my Google Reader, a post written by Syahid from TechMalaya.com has caught my attention. He wrote an article about an online puzzle game, The Putty Puzzle.

The Putty Puzzle game

The first moment when I saw the pictures in his post have make me so excited to play the game. You need to think on how to move the blocks so you can reach the marker. Once you reached at the marker, you have won the level. Sounds easy right? But you will see how “easy” it is when you start playing it.

New day, new month, new mission. Previous month was my busiest month. Lack of posts, lack of replying comments, lack of visiting members’ blog. It was so terrible.

Anyway, here is the highlights for articles in May 2008.

I hope this month I can handle and manage my time very well. Just started my job last 20th May and so I don’t have enough time to update my websites.

I am so tired when I back from the office. So the best time to update my websites is only at the weekend. Hopefully I will able to update this website frequently this month. Cheers!

For more interesting posts, you can view my Archives page.

I thought 50Gb size of bandwidth is enough to support all my websites but I was totally wrong. Today is a history for me. This is the first time I exceeded the bandwidth limit.

bandwidth-today

ServerFreak provides me 50Gb of bandwidth every month but that huge amount of bandwidth is not enough. I noticed about it when I got an email from my website.

The domain cypherhackz.net has reached its bandwidth limit (50059.23/50000.00 Megs).

Please contact the system admin as soon as possible.

!! Do not respond to this message. Your reply will go nowhere. !!

Then I quickly rushed check my website and yes, it is suspended with a notification text on it. I print-screened the website as for my record.

I was in the office this evening and suddenly I got an email from LiewCF, one of the most popular technology bloggers in Malaysia. In the email, he told me that CypherHackz.Net got listed in 9rules.

Wow! If he didn’t email me of course I will not know the result. I am busy lately because just start my job in one of the biggest security company in Malaysia. So I don’t have enough time to check what’s new in blogosphere. Thanks mate for your email. :)

I see that there are some blogs from Malaysia too. Congrats to them who got listed. Even LiewCF also got listed in this round. And here are the websites that have been accepted for Round 6.
